The Goodship Company was founded in 2014 by Jody Hall, the owner of Seattle-based cupcake bakeries and cafés. After Washington voters ended the prohibition on marijuana, Hall decided to bring her expertise, along with her recipe designer, to the cannabis market to create baked goods, chocolates, and confections.

What do you think are the biggest misconceptions cannabis industry?
Cannabis isn’t about sitting on the couch and eating a bag of chips. It’s about looking at the world through a slightly different lens. We want you to look at nature a little closer, talk about big ideas and examine the world with a newfound focus. We’re talking about cannabis in an approachable way that resonates with people who might still be unfamiliar with cannabis or anxious about getting too high. You can be amazingly creative when you can block out some of the stress and chatter of everyday life, and that makes for a better world.
How is your business innovating?
When it comes to products, we’re innovating heavily in the realm of micro-dosing, which some define as 10mg of THC, but we believe is much lower for your casual cannabis consumer. We offer Goodship Pastilles in Tart Cherry, Peppermint, and Lemon Lime, that still contain the maximum per-package dose of 100mg of THC, but each pastille contains only 2.5mg. It allows people to adjust their dosing to reach the cruising altitude that fits their desired experience.
What was the biggest hurdle you had to overcome in your business?
Expanding to new states is a challenge for every cannabis business because operations in each state need to be built from the ground up. Unfortunately, we can’t just ship our products across state lines. We’ve been working hard to bring our products to new markets.
What is your favorite aspect of working in this industry?
Goodship is proud to be a brand that works to bring cannabis into the mainstream and break down stereotypes. Our customers are parents and teachers, athletes and doctors, artists and business owners. We’re a company with a vision for the future of cannabis that everyone can be a part of and feel included in.
What inspires you?
