What do you think are the biggest misconceptions cannabis industry?
One of the biggest misconceptions about the industry is that cannabis brands are only marketing to "stoners." There is such a variety of people who use cannabis for different needs and occasions--from pain management, to relaxation, to recreational social use. The variety of people who are entering or re-entering the category brings different opportunities for product usage across various lifestyles.
How is your business innovating?
We are always trying to be on the forefront of developing the best operational processes, cleanest oil, and best-tasting products for our consumers. We have terpene specialists who help identify the strains and taste profiles that are trending and will be hot in upcoming seasons, while our marketing team mines industry sales data to keep an eye on trends in products, strains and hardware to identify opportunities in the marketplace. We are constantly bringing new strains, hardware formats, and products to market to build consumer-centric innovations.
What was the biggest hurdle you had to overcome in your business?
The biggest hurdle we've had is rolling with the punches for large industry shifts such as legal changes and sourcing. Compliance is very important to us, so we are always trying to be ahead of the pack in ensuring our products are clean, safe and compliant, and we can service our retail partners in the best way possible.
What is your favorite aspect of working in this industry?
We are on the ground floor of creating a new industry in the U.S. The opportunities we have to develop new ways of working and defining what a cannabis company can be is so exciting for our team. There are new challenges every day, and that keeps us on our toes. But, this is what makes it exciting. We are literally part of creating what the industry will be for years to come.
What inspires you?
The opportunity to educate new consumers on how cannabis can be a part of their lives is so inspiring. Education is a huge part of what we do with our retail partners and our consumers. The excitement from consumers inspires us to be better every day.
