Q&A with Entrepreneur & Hot Nife
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions cannabis industry?
There are a lot of misconceptions, but the biggest one today is that California cannabis is a green rush. It takes real tenacity and commitment to navigate this nascent space successfully.
How is your business innovating?
We are innovating by only sourcing the best materials and not trying to be all things. We are good at making the best oil in small batches with the end consumer in mind. We celebrate our ambers for their healing properties and full-spectrum benefits. We also are not afraid of the "stoner" stigma. We have found a lot of acceptance in building this brand in our use of the worlds most complex and exciting plant. We are funded through some of today's most notable athletes and are looking forward to showing how we all use cannabis to enhance our lives.
What was the biggest hurdle you had to overcome in your business?
The challenges in being an early mover in a regulated space at the end of prohibition are crazy.
What is your favorite aspect of working in this industry?
We enjoy being a part of an emerging industry. Many of us are in the trenches together and there is something exciting about participating in an industry for a consumer product that we once used medicinally and illegally but is now going to be "mainstream." We believe in decriminalization, in social justice, and that cannabis is a great alternative to a lot of medications or "self" medications that are not good for you. It truly is an incredible adventure.
What inspires you?
We are inspired by creators, and activist and artists and the exceptional growers who care deeply about the medicines they cultivate. We are inspired by the people who have given their lives to the pursuit of this plant despite the irrational demonization of it. They are warriors. We are also am inspired by people like Sweetleaf Joe who has been doing compassionate care and continues to work towards ensuring people who need this medicine the most can get it.
